A new website by Diriye Concepts, Calaacal.net. Come tell your day, the funnier the better.

I have been hearing, saying and using the word calaacal at least once a day. Comments like “Calaacalkaaga nagadaa” or “Kan Calaacalkiisa Badanaa” That got me think how about a place where people can place their Calaacal.

I know i would want to do that. So when i was thinking about making the site. I thought of first a website like Fmylife.com which is a superb website for all your complaints of the day. Using that i have come up with this: http://Calaacal.net

Calaacal.net. Check it out, use it, and stay tuned for more of it.

The road trip was great, we went to many dining areas and participated in many of the local activities at Ohio. Our Hosts were just brilliant and we hope to do the same thing when NASSU comes to Minnesota for its Semi Annual Convention.

I had recently heard of a Semi-Annual NASSU meeting. NASSU which is the North America Somali Student Union is a Network for Somali Students in Canada and the United States. Its much like an Umbrella Organization that connects and allows for communication for Somali Student Association’s in North America.

NASSU is having its Semi Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio. SSA at the UofM was invited and as the Technology Coordinator at the UofM’s SSA i went along.

NASSU is important because its the only Non-profit organization that is out to help and protect Somali Students in North America. Here are some pictures from the Semi Annual Meeting.
As a TLE i am to locate reading passages that are written in Somali and translate them into English. Once I have done that, I than assign a passage-difficulty rating based on the Interagency Language Roundtable. I am quite excited about the job and what it has to offer to the Somali Community and the continuation and growth of the Somali Language as whole.

I am not a big fan of Apple products except for the ipod/iphone. But iTunes new feature of Home Sharing for your library with those in your network and on the same iTunes account had me thinking. What if you if you can share with friends over the internet with your library without having to buy any product. The result: Hamachi with iTunes.

Hamachi made by Loginme another great product, allows you to seamlessly connect with others online. Its a Hosted VPN service that allows a sort of LAN connection that’s perty impressive.

With only several steps you can connect with a friend or family members iTunes library online (be able to copy and take each others libraries).

Steps:

1. Have both computers install and open up hamachi.

2. Have one person create a ‘New Network’ under, Network. And have the other person join that Network using the id and password that was assigned.

3. Open iTunes up on both computers and have both computers join the Home Sharing with the same iTunes account.

4. Enjoy Sharing online.
